Neptune’s R900® System offers utilities the ability to build onto existing mobile infrastructure to achieve fixed network functionality without stranding assets. Data collectors are strategically placed (fixed) within the boundaries of the distribution system to collect accurate daily reads, daily flags for leak, tamper and reverse flow detection as well as accumulate and store consumption data in addition to providing final reads for off-cycle meter reading. Migrate from mobile to a full-scale fixed network or anywhere in between.
Using the MRX920 data collector, the meter reader can now collect RF meter readings from the comfort of their utility vehicle. Designed with “hands free” capability, total reading time is significantly reduced since the meter reader can navigate the streets of the municipality at posted speed limits while simultaneously collecting meter readings. Meter reader safety is dramatically improved since most hazards such as slips/falls or aggressive dogs are mitigated. Meter reading success rates are almost always greater than 99%. Because of the improved efficiencies, utilities can consider reading more frequently than the billing cycle in order to proactively identify abnormal usage in the distribution system.
Using the Trimble handheld system the same meter reading software provides seamless technology migration by allowing collection of keyed, probed, or radio-transmitted meter readings all within the same route. Neptune’s meter reading software guides meter readers along their routes minimizing errors and improving meter reading accuracy and efficiency. The Belt Clip Transceiver (BCT) can also be independently paired to an Android tablet for RF testing and data logging of R900 MIUs.
